Hello! My name is Matthew Taylor, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Music Technology and Computation. In 2026, I received a B.S. in Electrical Science and Engineering from MIT, and I began research in the Laboratory for Audio, Music, and Acoustics (LAMA). My research focuses on percussion instrument physical modeling and the use of hardware platforms such as field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) to implement real-time audio processing algorithms.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, cooking, playing the drums, and building analog circuits for my modular synthesizer, which I use to produce electronic music. I also love to teach, and I have led a class for MIT’s Educational Studies Program (ESP) that introduces high school students to electrical engineering in the context of audio electronics.
