Jin Woo Lee has worked at MIT as a postdoctoral associate in the Laboratory for Audio, Music, and Acoustics (LAMA). He has developed new instruments and algorithms mainly for chordophones and aerophones, and has published papers in the areas of physical modeling sound synthesis, digital audio effects, musical acoustics, audio signal processing, and numerical simulation.
Prior to joining LAMA, he earned his Ph.D. from Seoul National University (SNU) in 2024, following his B.Sc. from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in 2019. He was also a visiting student at the Korea National University of Arts (KNUA). He was recognized as a Top Reviewer at the Thirty-Ninth Annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS 2025). He actively advances research at the intersection of music technology, physical modeling, and artificial intelligence and serves as a faculty member of the Graduate School of Culture Technology at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) from Fall 2026.
